Leona Louise Lewis, born 3rd April 1985 is an actor, singer, and activist of British origin. Born and raised within the London Borough Of Islington she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis received national recognition in the final series of The X Factor in 2006, winning a PS1 million recording deal for Syco Music. The single she won, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's song "A Moment Like This," was downloaded 50,000 times in thirty minutes and peaked at the top spot for four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis's successes continued when she debuted her first album Spirit (2007). It was certified platinum in the UK it became the fourth best-selling album in 2000s. As per the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the top-selling debut album from female singers in the 21st century. The album's first single "Bleeding Love" that lasted seven weeks on the top of the UK charts, was also the top-selling single of the year 2007. In the US it was also the most-seller single of 2008 . Lewis was proclaimed Best New Artist by Billboard that same year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. Lewis also composed the song "I Have You in My Eyes" on behalf of Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" as a collaborative effort in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii along with her debut extended-play, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) came out as Lewis' 3rd studio album. It's an exciting and fresh style. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep as well as electronic music. The Glassheart Tour was in the beginning of 2013 when she began to record material for her debut Christmas album. Christmas, with Love came out later in that year. The album's first single, "One More Sleep" came in at the third position in the UK. Lewis who is a British solo female artist was the first artist to make it into the top 5 with eight singles. The record is higher than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
